and meghan mccain, who we've been able to bring on board officially here at this network, but also, everybody else on the right, who was willing to come on just as a guest, because you are not afraid to leave the echo chamber. i will not say your name here for fear it will get all your christmas party invitations rescinded from your friends on the right. but you know who you are and i thank you. and i hope there are more of you next year. i'm thankful for c-span. i'm thankful for the election that we just went through. and i'm thankful that it is over. and that it really, really, really, i swear, it really is too soon to start talking about 2016, for a long time, it will be too soon to talk about 2016. i am thankful for that. and for the fact that through this flawed and contested, but ultimately noble system of regular elections and representative democracy, what we have in this country are peaceful transitions of power. i am thankful for all of that. and you know what, i am thankful for the fact that the highest profile person in our entire country other than our president is our nation's t

as the white house had hoped. senators mccain, ayotte and graham say they have more questions than they had before rice's comments about benghazi. >> we are significantly troubled by many of the answers that we got and some that we didn't get it. >> if you don't know what happened just say you don't know what happened. people can push you to give explanations and you can say i don't want to give bad information. >> that's troubling to me as well, why she wouldn't have asked, i'm the person that doesn't know anything about this, i'm going on every single show. >> joining me now for our daily fix, chris cizilla, msnbc contributor managing editor of post politics.com and our own nbc capitol hill correspondent kelly o'donnell. well, this was pretty tense. chris, first to you. you've seen a lot of confirmation battles. this really did seem like an escalation, a warning shot. >> maybe they come out of this and say, look, we still kind of disagree with the way this played out but the explanations that ambassador rice gave us helped us understand. instead, what we got coming out of it was, as you p

on a sunday show to talk about an event, that's what john mccain does. are they saying she should have given the unclassified version of the report she was given by the cia? then that would have been criticized. >> you're unfit because you're imparting secrets. >> exactly. >> rice was able to win over someone, joe lieberman. take a listen. >> i would not feel that her appearances and anything she said on those sunday morning talk shows september 16th would disqualify her for appointment to any other office. >> leishman in the context, he's retiring, he's not going to be around to vote on this. but is he signaling for other democrats basically that she has a clear path if her name does come up for nomination? >> i think that's right. joe lieberman is conservative, a hawk, respected by some senators on foreign policy issues. there may be three republican senators who don't like her, another 97 who have votes, the house members who have been campaigning against her don't have votes. something chip said, it would be weird or odd for this process to be playing out if she is not going to be nomina

clinton as secretary of state. rice's record, doing her job doesn't matter much to senator john mccain. what matters to the republican from arizona is rice went on television in the days after the deadly attacks in libya that killed chris stephens and three other americans and repeated the information the cia provided at the time. >> susan rice should have known better. if she didn't know better, she's not qualified. she has a lot of explaining to do. >> if appointed clears her of wrong doing besides not being very bright. i would do everything in my power from her being the united states secretary of state. >> i suppose i understand the republicans feel the administration hasn't paid a high political price for the benghazi attack. rice's performance on a few sunday shows should disqualify her. the president addressed this after he was reelected. >> if senator mccain and senator graham and others want to go after somebody, they should go after me. i'm happy to have that discussion with them. but for them to go after the u.n. ambassador who had nothing to do with benghazi, and was simpl
